Daikin Impact: Planting 10,000 Mangroves on Jakarta Coast
Daikin Indonesia's annual CSR program returned with a larger scale and more tangible impact. On World Environment Day, June 5, 2026, more than 500 Daikin employees together with local fishing communities planted 10,000 mangrove seedlings on the north Jakarta coastline.
Why Mangroves?
Mangrove forests play a vital ecological role, especially for coastal cities like Jakarta. They can absorb CO₂ five times more efficiently than regular tropical forests, while also serving as a natural barrier against erosion and flooding.
Long-term Impact
The 10,000 mangrove seedlings planted today are projected to absorb 500 tons of CO₂ per year when mature, protect 2 kilometers of coastline from erosion, and become habitat for more than 200 species of birds and fish.
